Last night, i hopped onto a tram to make my way home after attending a lecture and doing some grocery shopping. Tram frequencies were declining and the tram was filled with people. I ended up standing near the exit with 2 shopping bags full in addition to my sling bag.
I had my headphones plucked into my ears even though the Zen had died on me moments earlier. It served to dampen down the background noise and it was just too troublesome to stash into my bag among the press of the crowd.
All of a sudden i heard a commotion from behind me and turned to see, standing roughly 3 feet away, this aggressive 5 ft 9 inch tall woman in stiletto heels, thick make up, long brown hair with blond high lights, wearing a fur lined hoodie jacket and skinny jeans attack this poor backpacker carrying a massive backpack larger than herself.
The crazy bitch was mouthing obscenities about how the backpacker bumped into her, grabbed the backpacker's glasses, threw them down the steps, yanked her hair, pushed her head down and tried to push the backpacker down the steps with one leg.
Meanwhile, the backpacker's friend was calling for the crazy bitch to stop while grappling for the glasses and trying to retrieving it. A man in his 40s dressed in a business suit standing right behind the crazy bitch was placing his arm lightly on her elbows asking her to stop, to no effect obviously. God, what a useless wuss.
The few people standing between me and the centre of commotion, a school teacher taking a class on an excursion, another lady and a young man, quickly cleared the zone.
Suddenly the tram stopped and the doors flew open, the backpacker bent down to retrieve her glasses and the crazy bitch tried to kick her off the tram. The poor girl was left clinging to the rails, refusing to get off. Another young man was shouting for the backpacker to just get off the tram. With a clear space open before me, the crazy bitch walked within my range, back towards me ready to attack the backpacker again.
Out of anger and impulse, i used my left arm to hook the crazy bitch's right, my right hand still hanging on to my bags of groceries. It served to divert her attention as she turned to me and said something like "Let go of me" in more uncivilised terms, her voice muffled by my headphones. For a moment i thought she was going to attack me instead. I looked back at her unblinkingly and didn't budge. Eventually, she unhooked her arm from mine and got off the tram.
Once she got off, she then tried to pull the poor backpacker off the tram. I'm pretty certain now in retrospect that if she had succeeded, she would have started a full on attack on the poor girl. Now the young man who had asked the girl earlier to just get off the tram was pulling her back on the steps.
Finally, the warning bell to keep clear of the doors rang out, the crazy bitch gave up and the tram moved away.
Mind you, this occurred in the most livable city in the world at 9.45pm on a weekday on a public transport filled with bystanders. What is this place coming to?
The crazy bitch must be either on drugs and alcohol or has serious anger management issues.
The majority of bystanders just won't lift a finger to help.
I feel sorry for the backpacker and guilty for not having done more to help. Perhaps if i wasn't carrying shopping bags and a heavy sling back that unbalanced me, i'd have tried to subdue the crazy bitch. *Jiin twisting and locking the crazy bitches arm behind her and giving her a head kick reminiscent of the good old taekwondo days*
MOAO said that i shouldn't get involve in things like this because i run the risk of getting hurt or sued. Lose-lose situation.
Do you think i should have done anything different?

OMG! Your life is so happening! Yeah I support you. Well done for stopping that crazy bitch for a moment. I totally agree more could have been done if not for those annoying groceries. They made you less mobile and vulnerable to attacks if the mad woman wanted to. Unless you don' mind smashing a new bottle of tomato ketchup at her head. I really wish I was with you at that moment. Then would have lend you a leg at that crazy bitch's ass! Haha. And yah.. what's wrong with all the bystanders? Unity is force. If everyone is not supportive of the mad woman, I'm sure she would have scurried off under the killing stares of all. It reminds me of the comment which my mgr was telling me about how self-centered ang mohs are. Nvm, we shall start spreading the message of learning to help each other out and make the world more beautiful!
Happening??? Did you know that after that incident when i take trams at night i'm in a hyper vigilant state?
Now i'm observing everyone on the tram around me to assess their potential for going crazy. I think i'm traumatised!
I wish u were with me too man! zhuang4 zhuang4 dan3 also good! Hahaha...
