Back from my first road trip in Thailand with my folks! Its actually pretty easy to drive around in Thailand on the expressway. This of course minus the part where you have to drive out from Bangkok airport. Best piece of advise I would share: take photos/snapshots of the expressway from Google map and print a general instruction from Google. Do take note of the general town names along the way so that you know you are heading in the right direction.
For those who are interested in historic ruins, Sukhothai is a much better place than Ayutthaya. Needless to say, the best don't come easily. Sukhothai is a 5-hr drive from Ayutthaya and Ayutthaya is in turn a 1-hr drive from Bangkok airport. Guess pictures speak louder than words...so here you go:

Thanks thanks! I realised that too but there are a handful that take very nice photos too. Or rather sometimes I think is the powerful camera that they own that helps them to take pretty pics.
