Professor McDreamy

Last week i was rifling through a pile of old books the library was giving away for free and found The Social Animal 2nd Ed by Elliot Aronson written in 1976.

What caught my eye was of course the title, being the least textbooky, among other books such as the Atlas of the Battered Child, Microeconomics etc.

It's a pretty good read in the sense that it's a narrative on the principles of social psychology explaining behaviours such as conformity, which is a phenomenon as pervasive as oxygen in the field of medicine, aggression and prejudice among others.

The small introductory chapter "Why i wrote this book" intrigued me about the author and i turned to the back cover to discover that Elliot Aronson is a Professor and multiple award winner for his contribution to the field of social psychology. In his hey day, he looked like this:

Doesn't he look like McDreamy?!

If i was a student in his university back in the 1970s, i would take his class just so that i can sit and stare at him. His ability to give a good lecture, from which i infer from his style of writing, would only serve to be icing on the cake.

Why don't we have lecturers like this in medicine? Hmmm???

And why is it that people who look remotely like him only appear in medical drama series who don't even bother teaching their actors the right way to do CPR?
